The name comes from the inhabitants of the Mesabi Iron Range in Northern Minnesota. Many decades ago the miners of that region were in desperate need of shoes that could withstand the conditions of the hostile environment of the mines. Even then, the reinforced leather toe cap and sophisticated heel construction successfully defied the most adverse conditions. The amber brown leather of the owned company S.B.
